The STEM in HSI Working Group at the University of Arizona, with support from NSF Grant #1748526, competitively selected HSI Adaptive Case Studies to spearhead transformational broader impacts at the intersection of equity, STEM education, and HSIs.
Each selected case study (1) identifies a problem of critical value for advancing a culture of “servingness” at an HSI along one of three themes, (2) supports active engagement of diverse experts and stakeholders in a participatory process of adaptive solution-finding , and (3) documents the problem, the solution-finding process, and potential (or expected) outcomes as a case study.

Project Start Date: January 2, 2019
Project End Date: August 15, 2019
Advancing change towards an institutional culture that supports students at HSIs begins by identifying specific problems for which solutions do not yet exist and engaging in adaptive solution-finding processes. The goal of this project is to develop HSI Adaptive Case Studies along one of three possible themes:
The STEM in HSI working group (HSI-WG) will select up to three case studies proposals, to be developed over the Spring and Summer 2019. Selected teams will be subcontracted for up to $4,000 and team members will be listed as collaborators in NSF Grant #1748526. The HSI-WG will collaborate with each team in the writing of the final case studies.
